Halton Healthcare offers services throughout the region at three hospitals and various clinics in Acton, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton and Mississauga. To find out the location of each clinic and which site is closest to you, scroll up to “Location details”.

To book an appointment at each hospital call Georgetown at 905-873-0111, Milton District at 905-878-2383 or Oakville Trafalgar Memorial at 905-845-2571. Specific extensions for clinics within the hospital can be found by clicking a service.

Self-referral through OBSP screening is available to eligible patients at all three Halton Healthcare hospitals. Call 519-672-7900 to book an appointment at Georgetown, Milton District or Oakville Trafalgar Memorial hospitals.

Additionally, Halton Healthcare offers the Ontario Breast Screening Program for high-risk individuals at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital by calling 905-845-2571, extension 5236.

A doctor’s referral or requisition form is required for most imaging services at Halton Healthcare. Eligible patients can self-refer for screening services under the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP).

Yes, services at Halton Healthcare are covered under OHIP. In cases where a patient does not have a valid Ontario health card, services must be paid for by the patient.

The Halton Healthcare clinic will send your results to your referring physician, typically within a week of your test. For quicker access, you can use PocketHealth to easily view and share your results, often before your follow-up appointment.

To diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries, doctors often use non-invasive imaging techniques like X-rays and ultrasounds to examine the internal workings and structures of your body.

In an X-ray, a low-dose beam of electromagnetic radiation passes through your body. As it travels, the ray is absorbed by the structures it encounters, depending on the density of the tissue. The remaining non-absorbed ray is captured as visible light to create images.

In an ultrasound, high-frequency sound waves are generated by a hand-held device called a transducer. Those sound waves rebound off organs and tissues, creating echoes that are compiled into real-time images.

X-rays are better at capturing defined images of the hard structures of the skeletal system, while ultrasounds typically provide clearer images of soft tissues, and are preferred for imaging during pregnancy.
