About London X-Ray Associates

For over 90 years, London X-Ray Associates (LXA) has provided London, Ontario and the surrounding southwestern Ontario region with medical imaging services. LXA has close working relationships with St. Joseph’s Health Care London, the University of Western Ontario and Lawson Health Research Institute.

London X-Ray Associates offers services throughout London at five different locations. Clinic information is listed above under “Location details” to help you find the clinic closest to you.

You can book an appointment at any London X-Ray Associates clinic location by calling 519-672-7900.

Eligible patients may self-refer for OBSP screening services, which are available at the following London X-Ray Associates clinics: 450 Central Avenue and 595 Bradley Avenue locations. To book an appointment call 519-672-7900.

In most cases, you require a doctor’s referral or requisition form for an appointment at the clinic. Services under the Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) don’t need a requisition since patients who meet the eligibility criteria can self-refer.

Services at London X-Ray Associates are covered under OHIP. In cases where a patient does not have a valid health card, services can be paid out-of-pocket.

London X-Ray Associates will send your results to your referring physician, typically within a week of your test. For quicker access, you can use PocketHealth to easily view and share your results, often before your follow-up appointment.

Ultrasounds and X-rays are both non-invasive imaging techniques that capture images of the internal organs and structures of your body to help doctors identify, locate and monitor treatment of illness or injury.

Ultrasounds use high-frequency sound waves to create images. Generated by a wand-like transducer, the sound waves bounce off your tissues and create echoes, which are compiled into real-time images.

X-rays use low-dose radiation to create images. The rays are absorbed in differing degrees depending on the density of the tissue they pass through. The non-absorbed rays are captured as light to create images.

X-rays are better at capturing defined images of the hard structures of the skeletal system, while ultrasounds typically provide clearer images of soft tissues, and are the preferred method to monitor fetal growth and development during pregnancy.
